  • Welcome to The Commonwealth Club

The Club was established in 1954 as a social meeting place for ladies and gentlemen. The Club moved to its current location in Yarralumla in 1965. Set amongst two acres of garden, the Clubhouse overlooks Lake Burley Griffin and the city of Canberra. Parliament House, the National Library and the National Gallery of Australia and many other attractions in the National Capital are all within easy walking distance.

The Commonwealth Club is one of Canberra’s oldest private social clubs, proud of its heritage and traditions yet progressive in its outlook. For citizens of good character, it upholds the core principles of courtesy and consideration for others, formality, and impeccable values and conduct. Its Members are drawn largely from the fields of academia, business, farming and grazing, government, the professions, the military, the diplomatic corps and the public service.
The Club offers a variety of benefits, social events, and facilities to Members. Their partners, family and friends are also very welcome to participate in a wide range of the Club’s activities.
