Membership
Since our founding, we've been a place where remarkable people gather to connect, share ideas, and build lasting friendships.
The Commonwealth Club brings together dynamic individuals from diverse backgrounds including:
- Academia and research
- Business and entrepreneurship
- Rural industries and agriculture
- Government and public service
- Military and defence
- Diplomatic corps
- Professional services
While many of our members join through personal connections with existing members, we're always excited to welcome fresh perspectives and new faces to our Club. Don't let a lack of current connections hold you back. Whether you're new to Canberra or simply interested in joining our diverse community, we'd love to hear from you.

Becoming a Member of the Commonwealth Club
Your journey begins with an introduction from current members.
To join the Club, your membership must be proposed and seconded by two Members. The nomination should also include names of three Club Members to whom the nominee has been introduced. Your Proposer will arrange for you to meet with a member of the Election Committee. To apply, please discuss with your proposer the completion of the nomination form.
If you are unable to nominate a Proposer and Seconder, please contact the General Manager for assistance.
Once complete, your Proposer is responsible for returning the nomination form to the General Manager, Commonwealth Club, 25 Forster Crescent, Yarralumla, ACT 2600.
Upon receipt nominations are vetted for completeness and then forwarded to the Election Committee for review. Names of Nominees are placed on the Club’s noticeboard for a minimum of 14 days prior to the Election Committee’s final consideration. The Election Committee meets monthly, on the fourth Tuesday of each month, so nomination forms must reach the Club by the previous Thursday.
If you have any questions or would like details about the joining fees and subscriptions, please contact the General Manager, phone: +61 2 6120 2100 email: [email protected]
